Roberto Puga, P.G.

Roberto is president and founder of PathForward Consulting, the Trustee for numerous Environmental Response Trusts, and the Project Coordinator for numerous CERCLA/RCRA Multi-Party sites. Prior to launching PathForward, Roberto was a co-founder of Project Navigator, Ltd., an environmental remediation company. While at Project Navigator, he was responsible for the development and oversight of Trustee projects, Multiparty projects, and programs supporting the underlying strategic and business objectives of the company.

For his Clients, Roberto provides strategic counseling and management advice on environmental remediation issues, and his technical expertise also includes landfill stability and geologic characterization. He is an expert on creative remediation strategies, recognizing and selling site assets, Brownfields Redevelopment, value creation, and trustee services. With his deep project management and environmental experience, Roberto helps guide his clients through complex negotiations and development of innovative resolutions at the highest levels of government.

Roberto’s is an excellent communicator and works to find common ground to effectuate solutions while aligning multiple parties otherwise often at odds over environmental alternatives. He has been interviewed by the NY Times, ABC/CBS, NPR, and has appeared in local news/radio/television across the country.

In 2009 Roberto was appointed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to serve as Environmental Trustee for the Former ASARCO Smelter Site in El Paso, Texas. He managed a highly contentious $52MM remediation, which included the tallest chimney demolition event in U.S. history that required significant coordination with public and private entities from the local, state, federal and international level due to the site’s location on the US-Mexico border. At the former ASARCO site, he identified and sold an additional ~$25.4 million in assets. This increase in revenue allowed the Trust to enhance remedial actions to increase the development potential of the property.

Roberto has a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from the University of Santa Barbara.
